Slippery Winds Wilderness Lodge is a jewel hidden in the wilderness of Ontario. Only 38 air miles north of Fort Frances, Ontario – Slippery Winds offers our guests exceptional catch-and-release fishing.

Variety is what sets Slippery Winds apart from other Canadian fishing lodges. We offer multi-species angling on six separate lakes, accessible either via boat or portage from our lodge. Each lake has its own unique character, but one thing they have in common is good fishing. Trophy walleye, muskie, largemouth & smallmouth bass, northern pike, and lake trout swim these waters and give anglers a variety of targets from which to choose. With this type of diversity of lakes and species available, you’ll never be bored fishing with Slippery Winds.

No matter what fishing package you choose, you’ll have optional, experienced professional fishing guides at the ready to help. Our guides are friendly and offer unparalleled expertise in fishing on our diverse set of lakes. Enjoy an Outdoor Adventure!

Incredible fishing isn’t the only thing you can look forward to when visiting Slippery Winds Wilderness Lodge; guests enjoy a true wilderness adventure. Canada’s northern wilderness is truly something to behold; towering trees and pristine waters provide the ideal backdrop for nature enthusiasts. Wildlife viewing opportunities are plentiful. Largely undisturbed, our location in Sunset County puts the “wild” back in wilderness.

However, just because the wilderness is rugged doesn’t mean our accommodations are. Slippery Winds Wilderness Lodge offers five cabins, ranging in size from a two-bedroom cabin to larger cabins that can sleep up to seven guests. With our variety of lodging options, we’re ready for every type of trip, from romantic fishing getaways to family vacations to the Canadian wilderness.

To best serve our guests, we strive to provide a tailored experience. We intentionally restrict our maximum capacity to only eighteen guests per trip. This approach ensures personalized guest service in a relaxed, informal atmosphere in an unspoiled wilderness setting.

"This was our second trip to Slippery Winds. Very friendly staff and from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure the service was fantastic. Comfortable lodging and wholesome food. Our trip was in mid-June and the weather was ideal, little rain, partly cloudy skies and light breezes. They allow you to fish until 10:00 pm at this time of year. Superb fishing for walleye, muskellunge, largemouth bass, pike, smallmouth bass and lake trout. The adventure of being able to fish six different lakes for six different species of fish adds to the experience."

The food and hospitality is top-notch with terrific staff. The location is ideal for us as it’s only an 8 hour drive from Iowa, and then a quick 20-minute float plane ride. Highly recommend!"

"If you are into fishing then this is the spot! They have a variety of species on multiple lakes with minimal pressure. The pricing is reasonable and the fishing is phenomenal. The food is home cooked and what you would expect at grandma’s for dinner. Don’t expect the Hilton as it is a fish camp, but the cabins are nice and everything is clean. This was our 8th year in a row and we aren’t planning to venture elsewhere in Canada. Top notch!"

"My son and I along with multiple friends have been coming to Slippery Winds since 2004. Having fished at many camps over the years, this camp is first rate. Terrific fishing both in quality and variety. Camp is comfortable, food good and fishing was excellent. Location is big plus as you can leave after work in the afternoon from the Twin Cities and be in Fort Frances 5 to 5.5 hours later. This year Walleyes gave us the most picture worthy fish, other years it has been Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass or a huge muskie trying to bite walleye on our line."
