Our six new sixteen-foot Alumacraft fishing boats arrived at the Straw Lake landing yesterday. The lodge staff worked hard to offload the boats by hand and transport them from the Straw Lake landing to Slippery Winds’ back dock on Straw Lake.
Today we’ll move the boats from our back dock over to Yoke Lake and set them up for our guests. We will now have a fleet of the six new Alumacraft, our sixteen foot Lund and a couple of sixteen-foot Nadens with casting decks – all powered by 15 hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboards, plus our two guide boats on Yoke Lake.
The new boats have allowed us to move two sixteen-foot boats with casting decks to Straw Lake – replacing two smaller boats. This will provide our guests with larger, more comfortable boats on Straw Lake. As we are only allowed four guest boats on Straw Lake we have left two of the smaller boats on Straw to be used by guests to negotiate the beaver dams on the creek leading to the Bluffpoint portage.
We are excited to have a fleet of brand new boats on Yoke Lake for our guests!
