We are looking forward with anticipation to the 2017 season at Slippery Winds Wilderness Lodge! Guests can look forward to six brand-new, 16-foot Alumacraft boats with floorboards and swivel seats being added to the boat fleet on Yoke Lake. This will allow us to move several of the 16-foot Naden boats with casting decks from Yoke over to Straw Lake, providing our guests who like to fish Straw and Sucan with larger, more comfortable boats. We will leave a couple of the smaller boats on Straw for guests who want to fish Bluffpoint to use, as they are much easier to haul over the beaver dams in the creek leading to the Bluffpoint portage.
Late last season we bought two new 25-hp, 4-stroke Yamaha outboards for the guide boats as we replace our 2-stroke Yamahas with new 4-stroke outboards.
Lori is returning as chef – and she is also taking over the on-site manager’s duties at the lodge. We’ve also added one more member to our team which will give us the ability to be proactive in reducing / eliminating any problems that may potentially arise on our three portage lakes.
We’ll be heading into the lodge in early May to prepare for the upcoming season as we have a number of projects we would like to accomplish prior to welcoming our first guests to the lodge for the walleye opener on May 20th.
